Over the last five years The Backwater Sanctuary has successfully rescued and re-homed close to 80 horses and supported over 500 equines around India. The Sanctuary is currently home to 28 gorgeous equines as well as a beautiful rescued camel.
Along with our resident equids, we also support multiple lower income stables across the city by providing free vet care, grain and fodder.
It doesn't stop there though. Hand in hand with like minded individuals, we have also opened two more Equine Rescue Shelters in Delhi and Indore, who operate under our guidance. Through these shelters, we are able to take in more animals that would otherwise be out of reach.
We also have a tiny set up in Bangalore for more severe cases/animals that can’t travel to the jungle. At the moment we have 4 horses and a donkey in our shelter in Bangalore, that is under the care of Rudrapratap Singh.
