royal flame

Royal Flame, aka Flamey came home to our sanctuary to live out his days in the wilderness, a free horse.

He was a 28 year old thoroughbred gem, a champion show jumper and eventer back in his day. His lovely owner Malavika decided last year that it was time for him to retire with us.

After a few weeks of emotional rehabilitation and settling him in, Flame took to the sanctuary like a duck to water. He had a beautiful and peaceful life on the backwaters, spending his days lazing under the trees with his best pal Phantom, grazing, dozing, socialising - just a content old horse all around. He was adored infinitely by our whole team.

On June 14th 2021, Flamey’s heart, weak as it was, decided to give out. He was given pain killers to ease any pain and Phantom, Abhi and Robin were with him, in his warm cozy stable, until the very end, comforting him as he made his way across the rainbow bridge. Flame will be missed deeply by us all. But knowing Flame spent his last months on Earth so absolutely content, it’s all we wanted for him. Rest peacefully beautiful Flame.
